I shredded a leather-covered heel in a sidewalk crack just last week, on the very first day I had worn the shoes. Sigh. I feel your pain! I so agree. My workplace has very uneven sidewalks on its "campus". A beautiful pair of shoes with leather-covered heels got shredded this way. Another pair with wooden heels are marked up and look poorly as well. It is so distressing but I am putting my feet down more carefully, I must say! Ugh. I so agree.
