Get in Line, Missy!

Because I hesitated… because I stupidly didn’t leave room in my carry-on… and because I’m just too darn wishy washy sometimes… I find myself on a dreaded waiting list. The minute I left the Saks store in Beverly Hills on Monday — actually, probably the minute I got on the plane that night — I regretted not just throwing caution to the wind and impulse-buying that lovely brown suede Louis Vuitton Onatah pochette bag.

On Thursday, back in New York, I ran over to Saks to see if the bag was there. There was no sign of it in the display cases in the front of the Louis Vuitton section, so I accosted the closest saleswoman and demanded to know why. (Actually I asked nicely when they would have them in stock but that sounds less urgent than the situation truly was.) But wait — be still my heart! — she told me that they actually had one in one of the cases in the back. I followed her like an excited puppy… only to discover that it was the smaller size, not what I wanted at all. Oh the joy of discovery… the agony of waiting.

So I dutifully put my name on a waiting list in the hopes of someday soon having the privilege of plunking down $1070 for this handbag, this love of my life (well, the love of this season anyway). The saleswoman asked for all my phone numbers, and my credit card info, because as she warned, if she couldn’t get in touch with me she would have to go straight to the next name and I would be left out in the cold, crying in my soup, SOL. Would they be needing my blood type too? Because my god, I felt like I was applying for a donor heart or something.

Oh but don’t tell me this isn’t a life or death situation too!

I did something even better: I looked on eluxury.com, and though the suede bags aren’t featured on the site yet, I tried searching by name. And eureka! There it was. Lucky me — the pochette is the only one that’s there. After a brief moment of fear when it went from in stock to out of stock then back in again, I managed to order one. Ahhh… be still my heart.

You know, I’m still confused about the price of the little Pochette Onatah since it’s not featured on any legitimate sites like eluxury.com and the price of the bigger Onatah GM that’s on the official LV website’s front page…..could you help me out pls…thanks

Alyssa: The pochette is $1070. The small Onatah PM is just under $900 and the GM is $1400 or so… The ones with the flowers are pricier… Good luck!!
