Just Shoe It
I just got the Bergdorf Goodman spring shoe catalog the other day, and I’m inspired! I’ve been studying its contents even as the wind gusts outside my window. Who cares about the 45-degree weather? Get thee to the shoe department, I say!
The minute I saw these turquoise-beaded Jimmy Choo sandals in the catalog (and they look better there than they do online, without the pedicured foot to model them!) I knew they’d be perfect for the green-brown-mix print silk dress I’m having made for a wedding I’m going to in September. I think I might have to pick up a pair on the way to my first fitting on Wednesday!
The only thing I’m iffy about is the heel — they may not be high enough for the dress. So my backup option might be these tiger-print stingray Manolos. Maybe too wild, too many prints going on? I suspect that’s the case, but I really have to remember to ask for a swatch of the fabric to study my shoe options.
I might also need to pick up these silver python Chloe anklestraps for the other dress I’m having made (and yes, for another wedding). It’s in a raspberry and ivory print, and I’m planning to wear it with an ivory silk-wool spring coat. The silver shoes will definitely make the outfit. I’ve been jonesing for some metallic shoes for a while now… I need something glitzy to wake me up from the winter doldrums!

All fabulous. I wish the heel were higher on the Jimmy Choos, too. Low heels make me think “why bother?” However, anything over 3 1/2″ is too high for me, so I’ve just effectively niched myself.
I wish the dollar/Euro relationship weren’t on the skids to the degree that it is; those prices are nearing astronomical.
Say, have you given that talk yet? And what of your new bespoke clothes?

What talk do you mean? And I am doing my first fitting for the clothes on Wednesday!

I’m sorry, I made a mistake about the talk. I confused you with another fashion blogger. Oops! I would love to hear how the fittings go . . . I’m sure you plan to post about that.
