Milano Kooky

I’m not anywhere near done with my fall wardrobe — I’ve got a few knit dresses, those patent berry Tod’s shoes, some cashmere cardis but I’m still in desperate need of new boots and more skinny pants — but I found myself distracted by the spring collections in Milan.

I’m not sure what to make of my beloved Prada (what’s with the Norma Desmond turbans?) but Bottega Veneta’s beige and blush palette just may be soothing enough to make me glaze right over the $800 price tags on the shoes and high four-figure handbags… But that seemed to be the rare highlight in Milan. To wit: I think I’m finally over Missoni — maybe the prints are wearing thin, or maybe they just look better in the winter. Or maybe I’ve finally realized that one doesn’t wear kaftans where I summer. Gucci? Um, I don’t think so. That space-age flight attendant look isn’t for me. And the Marni sack look, which in the past was somewhat charming, didn’t do it for me this season, especially worn over those sport-striped leggings. Oh dear.

You know what? We always have Paris…

I must say that Bottega Veneta has calmed my worried mind! The abrupt turn for the 80’s was having me dreading the inevitable return of neon pink with radioactive green patterns! There might be some hope after all :-) I don’t know about the turbans, although I must say that the satin is fabulous.
