Rocking the Red Carpet
It’s award show season again. What to wear??
For most of us that question may just mean: What should I wear to my friend’s Oscar party? Or maybe: Which PJs should I be wearing when the Oscars are finally over at 3 a.m.?
Okay, so people won’t be screaming my name on the red carpet — but I’ll still be attending the Grammys and I still need an outfit (or two, or three, since the festivities last all weekend). These awards admittedly aren’t as glam as the Oscars but there’s something to be said about not having to deal with a corset… or underwear at all for that matter. Just kidding!
There are some special considerations to keep in mind when you have to leave for the show around 3 in the afternoon. No joke! Since the show’s live East Coast time, you find yourself in all your finery, melting in the afternoon L.A. sun. So we’re talking about — literally — day into evening into late-night dressing.
With that in mind, short is usually the order of the day/evening/late night. I can’t decide if this Donna Karan dress is quite the look I’m going for, but this Fendi plisse dress caught my eye. I like the idea of sleeves — no need for shawls, which are hard to keep in place when you’ve got a clutch and sunglasses to hold. (That’s also why I’m a big fan of the evening coat — and in my book, nothing says rock ‘n’ roll couture more than Dolce & Gabbana.)
Whatever I end up wearing (can you believe how last-minute I’ve left things?), I think this Boucheron ring might be the piece de resistance. Couture brass knuckles, how about that? I wonder if it comes in a matching grill…!
